Young Development Fellows YDF Program Fourth Batch 2017 Update: The Planning Commission has now started taking applications for the Young Development Fellows (YDF) Program Fourth Batch 2017 as part of its ‘One Nation One Vision Pakistan 2025’ plan.

The Government of Pakistan is now inviting online applications for the Young Development Fellows YDF Program Fourth Batch 2017. Pakistani students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity today.


Young Development Fellows Program

The Planning Commission’s YDF Program is attracting young talent for the national development of Pakistan.

Based on their qualifications and field of study, interested individuals can apply in Young Development Fellows YDF Program Fourth Batch 2017 for the following disciplines:

  • Development Economics / Competitiveness
  • Energy and Power Sector Development
  • Private Sector led Growth and Public-Private Partnership
  • Peace and Development
  • Food Security and Water Management
  • Poverty Alleviation
  • Science, Technology and Innovation

Eligibility Criteria

As per the YDF application form, only individuals who meet the following criteria will be considered for the Young Development Fellows YDF Program Fourth Batch 2017:
  • Be between 18-30 years of age
  • Hold PhD/Master/professional degree from a reputable university in one of the fields listed in the advertisement
  • Preferably have some relevant professional experience related to development or continued academic study at the doctoral level
  • Should not have joined any previous YDF batch

About Planning Commission
The Planning Commission (denoted as PC) is a financial and public policy development institution of the Government of Pakistan. The Commission comes under Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms. The Planning Commission undertakes research studies and state policy development initiatives for the growth of national economy and the expansion of the public and state infrastructure of the country in tandem with the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

Since 1952, the commission have had a major influence and role in formulating the highly centralized and planned five-year plans for the national economy, for most of the 20th century in Pakistan. Although the five-year plans were replaced by Medium Term Development Framework, the commission still played an influential and central role in the development of the programme. Furthermore, the Public Sector Development Programmes (PSDP) also placed under the domain of the planning commission. The commission's authoritative figures includes a Chairman who is the Prime Minister, assisted by the deputy chairman, and a science advisor.
