Uber Revealed in a statement:

Uber which started its service in 2009, is now available in over 450+ cities in over 75 countries spanning 6 continents.

Despite being embroiled in legal battles both domestically and globally, Uber has gone ahead with expanding its class of services by introducing ‘uberMINI’.

“At the tap of a button, Uber will connect you with the closest available MINI partner driver in your city, ready to pick you up in minutes,” disclosed Uber.

The best thing about uberMINI? It’s going to make your commute cheaper than even the simplest pleasures in life!

Whether this will bring positive fortunes for the company which is often marred by mismanagement issues in the country, remains to be seen.

About Uber

Uber fares are based on a dynamic pricing model, in which fares are higher during periods of high demand for rides. The same route costs different amounts at different times as a result of factors such as the supply and demand for Uber drivers at the time the ride is requested.

When rides are in high demand in a certain area and there are not enough drivers in such area, Uber fares increase to get more drivers to that area and to reduce demand for rides in that area. The rate quoted to the rider will reflect such dynamic pricing.

It hopes that the AI writer could be used as a supplementary resource by newspapers, tv channels and blogs as it would be able to free up time for editors to focus on other stories.

Pakistani Maven Develops Dante Artificial Journalist. According to a local television channel, the stories written by Dante were sent to experienced journalists in Pakistan for feedback.

One of them said that he could not tell the difference between a human-written story or a robot-written news story.

BaseH is a small company of IT professionals headquartered in Karachi. To make the AI Content Writer, they also enlisted the expertise of software engineers from the NED University.

AI-powered writing assistance programs are becoming better by the day. Grammarly, a popular grammar checker, uses AI-powered products to help with writing tasks. Microsoft Word’s Editor feature also uses AI to understand nuances in writing styles. It not only flags grammatical errors but also points out the use of unnecessarily complex words and overused terms. It also provides smart suggestions. For example, if it marks a sentence as passive, it will reword the sentence in an active voice.

A leading newspaper in the United States, the Washington Post, also has an in-house automated storytelling technology called heliograf, that uses it to cover all high school football games in the Washington, D.C. area every week.

The company is hoping that their AI writer could be used as an additional resource by newspapers, TV channels and blogs as it would enable editors to save their focus on other stories.

Pakistan is a fertile land for software developers and IT professionals, this innovation in content development will certainly change the landscape of technology in Pakistan.

Karachi Becomes World's Safe City Ranked 60th in EIU Safe Cities Index 2017

Karachi Becomes World's Safe City Update: Karachi, Pakistan’s economic heartland, has finally been included in the list of safe cities.

Karachi Becomes World's Safe City while it ranked last and could be called as “Least Safe City” among the 60 other mega cities of different countries, it was never included in the list in the past.

Karachi Becomes World's Safe City list is prepared through a survey that is conduced by Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) called as Safe City Index.
The survey mentioned:
“At the bottom of the Index is one of the ten new cities added in 2017. Karachi is one of them. Although it performs poorly across all of the categories, it was dragged down by a very low level of personal security (60th) and its overall ranking. This is a reflection of a number of factors, but the main reason is that among the cities in the index, it experiences by far the most frequent and most severe terrorist attacks.”
Surprisingly, no US city has made it to the top 10 safest cities list, with San Francisco entering as the 20th safest city in the world, according to the report.

All the countries— 60 in total— were rated on the basis of four categories, namely, digital security, health security, personal security and infrastructure security.

Read: Pakistan International Trade PITF Fair 2017 to be Held in Karachi Expo Center in Cctober

EIU earlier declared Karachi among the worst city to live in the world and security remained as one of they key concerns. It was also ranked as the second worst city to drive a vehicle in the world recently by a German Group, kfzeile24, in its survey.

The fresh ranking of Karachi Becomes World's Safe City is another bummer as the city stands at the last position. The selection of cities was carried out for their social and economic importance in their respective countries and regions.

EIU Survey

The Safe Cities Index 2017 is a report from The Economist Intelligence Unit sponsored by NEC. The report is based on the second iteration of the index, which ranks 60 cities across 49 indicators covering digital security, health security, infrastructure security and personal security. You can download the Safe City Index PDF Version 2017 here.

Cities are also defined by the complex, interlinked nature of their systems and infrastructure. This complexity has a bearing on safety. For example, experts are uncovering links between the quality of housing and the health of citizens.

And while terrorist attacks are what make headlines, traffic accidents are a greater day-to-day danger for urban residents. Natural forces are also coming in to play as climate change poses new risks to cities.

The ten cities of the top on the index are Singapore, Wellington, Osaka, Tokyo, Toronto, Taipei, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Stockholm and Amsterdam.

The ten cities of the bottom on this index are Jakarta, Tehran, Moscow, Johannesburg, Bogota , Quito, Yangon, Ho Chi Minh City, Caracas and Karachi. Karachi Becomes World's Safe City.

Karachi is the Unique City

Karachi is the one of the densely populated cites in the world. It is city for not only varieties of communities based on different ethnicities and sects but home of millions of refugees including Burmese, Afghans and Bengalis. Perhaps, it is the also the most visited city of the country by foreigners—businessmen and tourists.

EIU also ranked Karachi as the fourth cheapest city in the world where millions of people can eat, live and earn their livelihood despite many challenges of security and civic issues.

The city having more than one airport and seaport contributes largely to the economy of the country as it was ranked as 7th high potential city for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the region of Asia and Pacific by a survey of Financial Times’ division.

Karachi has been placed on the bottom of the index but that’s mainly due to political unrest, terrorists’ attacks, and sectarian tension in the city.

Pakistan Army took the major initiative by conducting operation Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad operations in all over Pakistan including Karachi and operation is going on and due to this on going successful operations, Pakistan is becoming safe day by day and Karachi is becoming the more powerful economic backbone of Pakistan.

Due to Pakistan Army Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, The political uncertainty and security situation improved markedly in the past couple of years, which also boosted up socio-economic activities in the city significantly, and opened up doors of opportunities to the world.

For instance, recently, the city hosted an international event for ten days as more than 40,000 members of Bohra community of nearly ten countries stayed in the city for more than two weeks. They were not contained to visit their congregation places and Masjids only but were also allowed to tour famous parts of Karachi including shopping centers without security guards.

The city famous for its generosity.

We the Mehran Post thanks to our honorable Pakistan Army and Specially General Qamar Javed Bajwa who is serious for Pakistan security matters.

The PSID will then be used to access the tax/duty payment details on banks’ webpage or ATM as the case may be. The tax payer or their agent will then pay the tax by debiting his/her bank account for onward credit to the respective government account in SBP BSC. The whole process will be online and fully automated.

The SBP has also advised banks to add FBR and Customs as Billers in the Bill Payment System offered by 1-link and develop necessary integration with 1-link within 2 months i.e. by 5th December 2017. The FBR SBP Tax Customs Duty Payments Using ATM Internet Banking system will be made operational by 31st December 2017 after necessary testing.

The banks have been advised to demonstrate full ownership and commitment for successful and timely implementation of this strategically important project, which will bring huge efficiency gains besides facilitating the public in hassle-free payment of government taxes and duties.

The Governor SBP, on the occasion added that the initiative is part of SBP Vision 2020, which envisages the development of the robust payment system and it’s primarily aimed at facilitating the taxpayers and public at large in payment of taxes. The Chairman FBR, Mr. Tariq Mehmood Pasha, on the occasion said that the project is the result of collaboration and cooperation between FBR, SBP and the private sector and will go a long way in further improving the government tax collection systems.

Initially the online tax payment facility shall be made available for all FBR (Inland Revenue and Customs) taxes including income tax, sales tax, excise duty and custom duty. Subsequently the online collection facility will be extended to other Government entities and provincial governments as well.

This shall be an additional option for payment of taxes as the existing tax payment facility at SBP BSC offices in fifteen cities and NBP branches across the country would remain available.

Stepwise Process Flow
  • The taxpayer will access systems of FBR (IRIS) or Customs (WeBOC) and fill his / her tax payment details to generate PSID (payment slip ID) for onward usage.
  • For tax payment, taxpayer will visit ATM or Internet Banking Portal and inputs his / her PSID generated in step 1 to fetch the tax payment details. After authentication of the payment details of taxpayer or his / her agent as the case may be, confirms the payment of tax.
  • Accordingly taxpayer’s account is debited for onward credit to Government Account at SBP BSC Office through 1link system.
  • As soon as the taxpayer’s account is debited, 1link system will generate a message for WeBoc or IRIS systems that payment against the PSID has been received.
  • For confirmation, taxpayer may view electronic display of payment confirmation on screen of ATM or Internet Banking Portal; bank may also send SMS to taxpayer.
  • 1Link will prepare MT-202 files (bank-wise) for settlement through RTGS.
  • Simultaneously 1Link will also prepare a detailed report / file of individual transactions containing PSID wise detail of taxes collected through its system.
  • Files of MT-202 messages and individual transactions will be fetched from 1links secured FTP and then posted for settlement in RTGS and SBP’s Core Banking system respectively.
  • Reports from Core Banking system based on unique transaction IDs (e-CPR) mapped with PSIDs of IRIS or WeBOC systems will be uploaded at Data Acquisition Portal (DAP) of SBP.
  • FBR’s IRIS and Customs WeBOC systems will fetch the respective reports from DAP for onward uploading in their System.
  • Accordingly e-CPR / unique transaction ID will be available to the taxpayers through FBR’s systems i.e. IRIS and WeBOC.
