TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service Inaugurated


TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service Update:

The launching ceremony of TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service from Gaddafi Stadium, Football Ground, to Wagah Border, was held amid festivity and celebrations on Saturday, by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP).


On 9th December 2017, the TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service started operating on the new route.


The ceremony of TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service featured jhoomar, a traditional dance and songs on Lahore, while beautifully decorated double-decker buses to be used for sightseeing were displayed at the venue.

The TDCP has dedicated a five-bus fleet for the TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service which would ply from the stadium to the border round the week, charging Rs300 per person fare for the trip.


On Saturday (09th November 2017) a large number of guests, including families of rangers personnel, traveled to the Wagah Border by these buses.

On the occasion, a cake-cutting ceremony was also held amidst dhol beats and bhangra. A 10-pound cake (a model of a double-decker bus) was cut by TDCP Managing Director Ahmer Malik, along with Punjab tourism department secretary and other officials.

The TDCP Sightseeing Lahore Double Decker Wagah Bus Service begins from Qaddafi Stadium Terminal at 2:30 pm daily and then reaches back to the terminal sharp after the parade at Wagah Border at 6 pm.


60 passengers can sit on the bus and enjoy their ride with features like Wi-Fi and LEDs. They can watch and enjoy the historical sites of Lahore as they take a ride on this bus.

Safety features and Hi-Tec real-time surveillance feature is part of the bus. Riders will be able to enjoy live commentary by experts.

Route

The double-decker bus will take the following routes;
  • Main Boulevard
  • Jail Road
  • Ring Road
  • Lahore Canal
  • GT Road and finally reach the border.
As per Punjab Government, the goal of this project is to promote tourism and show the world the historical sites of Lahore. Rana Mashood Ahmed current Tourism Minister of Punjab is supervising this project.

If the demand for the buses increases, Punjab government will add another bus going on similar routes.
