Transgender are considered as the abomination in Pakistani society. No matter how much activists come forward, no matter how much voice they raise, these people are considered as the useless gender. Transphobia is unfortunately common in our society and such minorities are not often given such opportunities despite their skills and education.
However, it is in these recent times, that castrates have come forward to prove their mettle and worth. It is in their extreme hard work that just recently Aisha Mughal has been appointed as Pakistan’s first ever teacher belonging to the third gender.
It has happened for the very first time in the history of Pakistan that government has officially appointed a transgender as a teacher. This amazing step has been taken in the federal capital Islamabad and is being warmly appreciated and welcomed by the masses. Aisha has been appointed as the lecturer of the Department of Gender in Quaid-e-Azam University.
What's commendable about Aisha's appointment is that she came forward and stood strong to prove her mettle in a society like ours. Transgenders, with proper education and enlightenment can prove to be contributing citizens of society, just like any other individual. With the proper awareness and provision of resources, transgenders can be given the opportunity to carve out a respectable living for themselves.
This step taken by the administration of Quaid-e-Azam University and the Education department in general is one initiative that we all should applaud and appreciate. Making third gender or transgender feel that they are equally a part of this society is the responsibility of each and every citizen that belong to this country.
After Kami Sid, Aisha Mughal could prove to be the next transgender sensation, making headlines, stepping ahead to break all stereotypes and enlightening the youth of today. HIP wishes Aisha all the best for her future endeavors!
